NSW HSR Refresher
NSW HSR Refresher
NSW HSR Refresher is designed for HSRs who have been elected to represent a workgroup(s) in their workplace under the Work Health and Safety Act. This course aims to refresh participants’ knowledge and skills in applying workplace consultation principles as part of an effective Safety Management System (SMS). The course is approved by SafeWork NSW and meets the requirements of the SafeWork NSW training package. Participants must complete all topics as outlined in the SafeWork NSW course guide.
Key Learning Outcomes
- Understand the Work Health and Safety Framework
- Apply consultation, representation, and participation
- Fulfill the role of HSR in issue resolution and risk minimisation
- Conduct workplace inspections
- Handle notifiable incidents and incident investigations
- Issue Provisional Improvement Notices (PINs)
- Cease unsafe work when necessary

Course Entry Requirements for NSW HSR Refresher
To enroll, participants must:
- Wear enclosed footwear and suitable attire
- Bring a pen or pencil for note-taking
- Provide evidence of having completed the 5-day initial HSR course
Course Duration and Delivery
- Duration: 1 day (9:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
- Location: Courses are conducted frequently at our Academy and can also be delivered on-site upon request.
- Delivery: Learners will engage in both theory and practical activities.
- Amenities: Morning tea, afternoon tea, coffee, and lunch are provided when delivered at Thurgoona Training Academy (TTA).
Recognition of Prior Learning and Pathways
RPL is not offered.
Learner Support
We offer support services for learners requiring assistance with language, literacy, or numeracy. If you have special dietary requirements or need additional support, please notify us prior to the course. Our Student Handbook, available on our website, outlines training guidelines.
