NSW Health and Safety Representative 5 Day Course
NSW Health and Safety Representative 5-day course is designed for individuals elected to represent a workgroup(s) within their workplace under the NSW Work Health and Safety Act. The course equips participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to apply the principles of workplace WHS consultation as an essential part of an effective WHS management system (WHSMS). This course is an approved SafeWork NSW program and meets all the requirements of the SafeWork NSW training package. Participants must complete all topics set out in the course guide provided by SafeWork NSW.
Key Learning Outcomes
- Understand the Work Health and Safety Framework
- Apply consultation, representation, and participation in WHS
- Fulfill the role of an HSR in issue resolution and risk minimisation
- Conduct workplace inspections
- Understand notifiable incidents and investigations
- Issue Provisional Improvement Notices (PINs)
- Exercise the right to cease unsafe work

- Health and Safety Representative (HSR)

Course Entry Requirements
To enroll, participants must:
- Wear enclosed footwear and suitable attire
- Bring a pen for note-taking
Course Duration and Delivery
- Duration: 5 days (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
- Location: NSW Health and Safety Representative 5-day course is conducted frequently at our Academy and can also be delivered on-site upon request.
- Amenities: Morning tea, afternoon tea, and lunch are provided when delivered at Thurgoona Training Academy (TTA).
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Pathways
RPL is not offered.
