Fire Watcher (Hot Work)
Fire Watcher (Hot Work) is designed for individuals who are required to perform hot work, act as fire watch, or carry out permit observer duties. This hands-on course covers essential skills such as the selection, use, and operation of portable fire extinguishers, fire blankets, and hose reels. Participants will complete three units of competency: PUAFER008 – Confine small emergencies in facilities, MSMPER202 – Observe permit work, and MSMPER200 – Work in accordance with an issued permit. This training ensures participants are fully prepared to handle emergencies, manage permit sites, and follow permit protocols.

Course Entry Requirements
To enroll, participants must:
- Wear safety boots or enclosed footwear and suitable attire
- Bring a pen/pencil for note-taking
Course Duration & Delivery
- Duration: 1 day (8:30 AM – 4:30 PM)
- Location: The course is open to the public and can be delivered on-site or at our Academy.
- Delivery: Learners will participate in both theory and practical activities.
- Amenities: Morning tea, coffee, and lunch are provided when delivered at Thurgoona Training Academy (TTA).
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) & Pathways
RPL is not offered for this course. This competency forms part of the MSA Training Package. Students may be eligible for further study, such as the MSA20107 Certificate II in Process Manufacturing.
