Fire Safety Officer NSW Recertification

Fire Safety Officer NSW Recertification course provides participants with the theoretical and practical knowledge needed to maintain their current competency as a Fire Safety Officer. In compliance with NSW Health requirements, this training must be undertaken every three years to ensure participants remain up-to-date with fire safety protocols and emergency procedures. Refresher training is recommended every three years to maintain competency.

Key Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive the Fire Safety Officer Certificate, which includes the following units of competency:

  • PUAFER001 – Identify, prevent, and report potential facility emergency situations
  • PUAFER002 – Ensure facility emergency prevention procedures, systems, and processes are implemented
  • PUAFER004 – Respond to facility emergencies
  • PUAFER005 – Operate as part of an emergency control organisation
  • PUAFER006 – Lead an emergency control organisation
  • PUAFER008 – Confine small emergencies in facilities

Career and Vocational Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, participants may consider roles such as:

  • Fire Safety Officer (NSW Health)

Enclosed footwear, suitable attire, evidence of having completed the initial Fire Safety Officer Course and a Pen / pencil

Course Duration and Delivery

  • Duration: 1 day (8:30 AM – 4:30 PM)
  • Location: The Fire Safety Officer Recertification course is open to the public and available upon request. It can be delivered on-site or at our Academy.
  • Learners will engage in both theory and practical activities.
  • Amenities: Morning tea, afternoon tea, coffee, and lunch are provided when the course is delivered at Thurgoona Training Academy (TTA).

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Pathways

RPL is not offered

Learner Support

We offer support services for learners requiring assistance with language, literacy, or numeracy. If you have special dietary requirements or need additional support, please notify us prior to the course. Our Student Handbook, available on our website, outlines training guidelines.
