Fire Extinguishers (PUAFER008)
COURSE OVERVIEW
Fire Extinguishers provides learners with the skills to confine small fires by using a nearby fire extinguisher, fire blanket or fire hose reel. Learners will be introduced to the Australian Standard code colours for emergencies as defined in AS3745. Refresher training is recommended every 2 years
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Prepare, Identify, assess and report emergency situations
- Safely confine fire / emergencies where possible
- Chemistry of fire
- Fire-fighting agents, equipment and procedures
- Practical “HANDS ON” use of initial response (first attack Fire-fighting) equipment including Fire Extinguishers, Fire Blankets and Fire Hose Reels
VOCATIONAL OUTCOMES
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to consider the following job roles:
- Member of an Emergency Control Organisation (ECO)
This unit is appropriate for those working in:
- Any organisation
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Safety boots or enclosed footwear, suitable attire, pen/pencil
DELIVERY AND DURATION
Duration: 2 hours Time: 8.30am to 10.30am Fire extinguishers is conducted on request at the Academy and can be delivered at your site or ours upon request. Learners will receive both theory and “HANDS ON” practical fire-fighting activities. Tea/coffee is provided when delivered at TTA
RPL/LEARNING PATHWAYS
RPL is not offered. Learners who complete this unit of competency may be eligible for further study such as PUA20619Certificate II in Public Safety
