Confined Space Refresher (RIIWHS202E)

Our Confined Space Refresher (RIIWHS202E) course is designed to update and reinforce the skills and knowledge of participants who have previously completed the Initial Confined Space Entry Course. Refresher training is recommended every two (2) years to ensure compliance with the latest legislation, technologies, and equipment.

Key Learning Outcomes

  • Apply legislative, organisational, and site-specific procedures
  • Perform basic diagnostics, operational, and maintenance tasks
  • Safely handle materials and use atmospheric monitoring devices (e.g., Gas Detectors)
  • Interpret Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)
  • Execute confined space entry, exit procedures, and risk assessments
  • Recognise air contaminants and toxic gases
  • Understand the limitations of breathing apparatus and respiratory protective equipment (RPE)
  • Learn the technical characteristics of confined space equipment
  • Apply site isolation and control measures
  • Understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and industry terminology

Course Entry Requirements for Confined Space Refresher (RIIWHS202E)

  • Safety boots or enclosed footwear
  • Clean-shaven as per AS/NZS1715 standards
  • Suitable work attire
  • Previous completion of Enter and Work in Confined Spaces (evidence required)

Course Delivery and Duration

  • Duration: 1 Day (8:30 AM – 4:30 PM)
  • Location: Held monthly at the Academy or on-site upon request
  • Amenities: Morning/afternoon tea and lunch provided for Academy-based courses

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Pathways

  • RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) is not available for Confined space refresher (RIIWHS202E).
