Fire Extinguishers (PUAFER008) Course Overview

Fire Extinguishers (PUAFER008) equips learners with the skills to safely confine small fires using fire extinguishers, fire blankets, or hose reels. Australian Standard AS3745 Planning for Emergencies in Facilities and Emergency code colors are referenced in this course. Refresher training is recommended every two years to maintain competency.

  • Understand the chemistry of fire
  • Learn about fire-fighting agents, equipment, and procedures
  • Hands-on use of fire-fighting equipment including fire extinguishers, fire blankets, and hose reels

Upon successful completion Fire Extinguishers (PUAFER008), participants may consider roles such as:

  • Member of an Emergency Control Organisation (ECO)

This unit is suitable for employees in any organisation.

Course Entry Requirements for Fire Extinguishers (PUAFER008)

To enroll, participants must have the following:

  • Safety boots or enclosed footwear
  • Suitable work attire
  • A pen or pencil for note-taking

Course Duration and Delivery

  • Duration: 2 hours (8:30 AM – 10:30 AM)
  • Location: Courses can be conducted at our Academy or on-site upon request
  • This course includes both theory and practical fire-fighting activities.
  • Amenities: Tea and coffee are provided when the course is held at Thurgoona Training Academy (TTA).

Recognition of Prior Learning and Pathways

RPL is not available for Fire Extinguishers (PUAFER008). Upon completion, learners may be eligible for further study, such as the PUA20622 Certificate II in Public Safety.
