Permit To Work
Permit To Work course is designed for individuals responsible for issuing and coordinating work permits, sometimes referred to as clearances in certain organisations. This course can be customized to include your organisation’s specific permit system, risk assessments, and equipment. It covers various types of permits, including:
- Excavation
- Heights
- Hot Work
- Confined Spaces
- High Voltage (HV)
- Cranes and Rigging
The course also addresses requirements such as atmospheric testing, ventilation, isolation, barriers, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), signs, communication, and incident response. Key elements of the work permit system covered include:
- Types of permits and relevant legislation
- Roles and responsibilities
- Required equipment
- Job Safety and Environmental Analysis (JSEA)
- Risk assessment procedures

Course Entry Requirements for Permit To Work
To enroll, participants must:
- Wear safety boots or enclosed footwear
- Wear suitable attire
- Bring a pen or pencil for note-taking
Course Duration and Delivery
- Duration: 1 day (8:30 AM – 4:30 PM)
- Location: Courses are open to the public and conducted upon request, either at our Academy or on-site at your location.
- Learners will engage in both theory and practical activities.
- Amenities: Morning tea, afternoon tea, coffee, and lunch are provided when delivered at Thurgoona Training Academy (TTA).
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Pathways
RPL is not available for Permit To Work. This competency forms part of the MSA Training Package. For more details, visit mskills.com.au.
