First Aid (HLTAID011)

First Aid (HLTAID011) course covers the essential skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response, offer life support, and manage casualties, incidents, and other first aiders until medical or other assistance arrives. Often referred to as Senior First Aid or Level 2 First Aid, this course also includes the HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) unit. Refresher training is recommended every three years to maintain competency.

Learning Outcomes

  • Introduction to First Aid and legislative requirements
  • Resuscitation and airway emergencies
  • Respond to choking and drowning incidents
  • CPR and defibrillation
  • Trauma management, including bleeding, shock, head and spine injuries, burns, fractures, and soft tissue injuries
  • Medical emergencies such as anaphylaxis, asthma, heart conditions, stroke, diabetes, and seizures
  • Respond to venomous bites, stings, and poisoning

Career and Vocational Opportunities

Upon successful completion of First Aid (HLTAID011), participants may consider roles such as:

  • Workplace First Aider
  • Member of a Workplace Emergency Response Team

Entry Requirements

To enroll, participants must:

  • Wear enclosed footwear and suitable attire
  • Bring a pen or pencil for note-taking

Course Duration and delivery

  • Duration: 2 days (8:30 AM – 4:30 PM)
  • Location: Courses are held monthly at our Academy and can also be delivered on-site upon request.
  • Learners will engage in both theory and practical activities.
  • Amenities: Morning tea, afternoon tea, coffee, and lunch are provided for courses conducted at Thurgoona Training Academy (TTA).

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Pathways

RPL is not available for First Aid (HLTAID011). This unit forms part of the HLT Health Training Package. For further details, visit cshisc.com.au.
