Fire Safety Officer NSW

The Fire Safety Officer NSW course is a comprehensive compilation of six units of competency from the Public Safety Training Package. Specifically designed to meet the requirements of NSW Health, it is intended for individuals who are performing the role of Fire Safety Officer NSW (FSO). Furthermore, this course equips participants with the essential knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage fire safety and emergency procedures within a facility.

Key Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive a Fire Safety Officer Certificate with the following units of competency:

  • PUAFER001 – Identify, prevent, and report potential facility emergency situations
  • PUAFER002 – Ensure facility emergency prevention procedures, systems, and processes are implemented
  • PUAFER004 – Respond to facility emergencies
  • PUAFER005 – Operate as part of an emergency control organisation
  • PUAFER006 – Lead an emergency control organisation
  • PUAFER008 – Confine small emergencies in facilities

Upon successful completion of this course, participants may consider roles such as:

  • Fire Safety Officer

Course Entry Requirements

To enroll, participants must:

  • Wear enclosed footwear and suitable attire
  • Bring a pen or pencil for note-taking

Course Duration and Delivery

  • Duration: 3 days (8:30 AM – 4:30 PM)
  • Location: Courses are open to the public and can be conducted on-site or at our Academy upon request.
  • Learners will engage in both theory and practical activities.
  • Amenities: Morning tea, afternoon tea, and lunch are provided when delivered at Thurgoona Training Academy (TTA).

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Pathways

RPL is not offered.

Learner Support

We offer support services for learners requiring assistance with language, literacy, or numeracy. If you have special dietary requirements or need additional support, please notify us prior to the course. Our Student Handbook, available on our website, outlines training guidelines.
