COURSE OVERVIEW  

Work Health and Safety is about ensuring safe and healthy working conditions and preventing illness and injury in the workplace.

This course covers the competency for applying general Work Health and Safety requirements when working in the usual workplace environment, excluding emergency incidents.

This course is relevant to persons wishing to undertake a position on a Work Health and Safety Committee.
LEARNING OUTCOMES  
  • Follow workplace procedures for hazard identification and risk control
  • Contribute to participative arrangements for the management of Work Health and Safety (WHS)
  • Communicate concerns verbally
  • Complete accident and incident forms
  • Identify hazards and assess risks
  • Participate in group meetings
  • Use communication technology if relevant to workplace requirements
  • Interpret SDS
  • Accidents, emergencies, fire, incidents
  • Meaning of WHS signs and symbols relevant to area of work
  • Organisations policies and procedures relating to hazards
  • Organisations policies procedures relating to risk control and hazard reporting
  • Participative arrangements for WHS
VOCATIONAL OUTCOMES  

Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be able to consider the following job roles:

  • Member of a Work Health and Safety Committee
  • Supervisory roles
  • Team Leader

This unit is appropriate for those working in:

  • Any Organisation
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS  

Safety Boots or Enclosed footwear, wear suitable attire
DELIVERY AND DURATION  

Duration - Eight (8) hours

Time - 8.30am to 4.30pm

Committee Member is open to the public and conducted upon request.

This course is delivered upon request at the Academy or at your site. Learners will receive training in both theory and practical activities. Morning / afternoon tea and lunch is provided when delivered at TTA. Please advise office of any dietary requirements
RPL/LEARNING PATHWAYS  

RPL is not offered. This unit is based on the national guidelines for intergrating Occupational Health and Safety competencies into National Industry Competency Standards.
