Work Safely with Liquefied Chlorine Gas (NWP277A)

 

This unit provides participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely handle chlorine using a pigtail/vacuum system and apply emergency response principles including the use and operation of Self Contained Breathing Apparatus. This course is endorsed by Orica Australia. Refresher training is recommended every two (2) years.

Part one - Theory

Part two - Disconnect and reconnect wearing PPE

Learning Outcomes:
  • PART 1.
    Understanding of WHS requirements and Australian standards and Regulations
    Manufacturing and uses of Chlorine
    Chemical Properties, Toxicity, First Aid
    Chlorine Emergency Procedures
    Chlorine Operating System including Liquid and Gas, Disconnect and re‚Äźconnect
  • PART 2.
    Selecting appropriate PPE
    Understanding the respiratory system and the effects of irrespirable atmospheres
    Components and operation of breathing apparatus
    Demonstrate safe operating procedures

Pathways:
RPL is not offered. This course is designed for people who are required to work with chlorine installations as part of their work task.
Entry Requirements:
Physically fit and Clean Shaven as per AS/NZS1715
