COURSE OVERVIEW  

This unit covers the competency required to provide participants the necessary skills and knowledge in order to establish and initiate an effective emergency control organisation.

This training program contains response actions to:  Fire / Disaster / Bomb Threat / Medical Emergency / External Emergency / Robbery – threats of intimidation and violence and Evacuation.

This unit is part of a suite of eleven workplace emergency response units and is part of the evacuation stream. This unit has been developed to cover the broad range of emergencies and workplaces as considered in Australian Standard 3745.

LEARNING OUTCOMES  
  • Respond to emergency reports, signals and warnings
  • Initiate and control initial emergency response
  • Anticipate the further development of emergencies
  • Assist with post initial response
  • Respond to emergency reports, signals and warnings appropriately
  • Supply clear directions under emergency conditions
  • Make decisions appropriate to the situation
  • Keep others appropriately informed
  • Respond according to workplace emergency procedures
  • Take on a leadership role consistent with the emergency control organisation
  • Correctly identify the type of emergency that has occurred
  • Identify and take action to avoid or control and associated hazards
VOCATIONAL OUTCOMES  

Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be able to consider the following job roles:

  • Member of an Emergency Control Organisation (ECO)
  • Member of an Emergency Response Team (ERT)

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS  

Safety Boots or Enclosed footwear, wear suitable attire.

DELIVERY AND DURATION  

Duration - Six (6) Hours

Time - 8.30 to 2.30pm

Operate as Part of An Emergency Control Organisation is open to the public and is also conducted upon request.

This course is conducted on request at the Academy and can be delivered on your site. Learners will receive training in both theory and practical activities. Morning / afternoon tea and lunch is provided when delivered at TTA. Please advise office of any dietary requirements

RPL/LEARNING PATHWAYS  

Workplace Emergency Response units are seen as industry wide units. The importing of these units of competency into other industry training packages is also promoted as the units are seen as relevant for all industries.
