This unit covers the competency required to identify and prevent the development of workplace emergency situations, or minimise their consequences, and to report if emergency protection systems, emergency control equipment and evacuation systems are compromised.

This unit is part of suite of eleven workplace emergency response units and is part of the prevention stream. This unit would benefit members of Emergency Control Organisations, Emergency Planning Committee and Emergency Response Teams.

This unit has been developed to cover the broad range of emergencies and workplaces as considered in Australian Standard 3745.

  • Identify emergency protection systems, emergency control equipment and evacuation systems.
  • Identify and report situations and hazards that may lead to or contribute to workplace incidents and/or emergencies.
  • Communicate according to workplace procedures and accepted safe practices.
  • Monitor the work area to identify new and emerging risks on an ongoing basis.

Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be able to consider the following job roles:

  • Member of an Emergency Control Organisation (ECO)
  • Member of an Emergency Response Team (ERT)

Safety Boots or Enclosed footwear, wear suitable attire.


Duration - Two (2) Hours

Time - 8.30am to 10.30am

Identify, pervent and report workplace emergency situations is open to the public and is also conducted upon request.

This course is conducted on request at the Academy and can be delivered on your site. Learners will receive training in both theory and practical activities. Morning tea/coffee is provided when delivered at TTA. Please advise office of any dietary requirements


Workplace Emergency Response units are seen as industry wide units. The importing of these units of competency into other industry training packages is also promoted as the units are seen as relevant for all industries.
