Heights Rescue (PUASAR022A)

COURSE OVERVIEW  

This unit covers the competency to participate in heights rescue operations as a member of a rescue team. This course has been designed specifically for those persons who may be required to rescue a worker from a fall or who may be suspended utilising a pre-rigged system. This course does not cover the competency required for technical rope rescue.

  • Casualty handling techniques
  • Manual handling techniques

  • Procedures for reporting injuries and accidents
  • Relevant legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Ropes and knots
  • Safety Precautions
VOCATIONAL OUTCOMES  

Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be able to consider the following job roles:

  • Work in specialist areas where height work may be required
  • As a member of an Emergency Reponse Team

This unit is appropriate for those working in a operational role at worksites within:

  • Civil Construction
  • Mining
  • Extractive industries
  • General Industry and Trades
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS  

Safety Boots or Enclosed footwear, suitable attire, hard hat, a pen/pencil. Learners must have previously completed a Nationally Recognised heights course and have an up to date Senior First Aid or Level 2 First Aid Certificate. Evidence must be provided.

DELIVERY AND DURATION  

Duration - One (1) Day

Time - 8.30am to 4.30pm

Heights Rescue is open to the public and can be delivered on your site or at the Academy. Learners will receive training in both theory and practical activities. Morning/afternoon tea and lunch is provided when delivered at TTA. Please advise office of any dietary requirements

RPL/LEARNING PATHWAYS  

RPL is not offered. Learners who complete this UOC may be eligible for entry into further study such as: PUA20613 Certificate II in Public Safety.
