COURSE OVERVIEW
This course covers the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance. This unit is also referred to as Senior First Aid or Level 2 First Aid.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Demonstrate DRSABCD Action Plan Understanding of first aid principles Resuscitation techniques and perform CPR Perform AED operations Assess and identify emergency care casualty requirements Injury treatment of fractures, burns, bleeding, poisons, bites and stings Monitoring casualty's vital signs Managing shock, suspension trauma, seizures, diabetes, asthma, respiratory difficulties and heat and cold stress Allergic reactions Communications to emergency services Social and legal issues, including cultural awareness, confidentiality and duty of care Incident documentation
VOCATIONAL OUTCOMES
Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be able to consider the following job roles: Emergency Response Team Member First Aider This unit is appropriate for those working in: General Industry Retail Hospitality Manufacturing Construction Mining Aged Care
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Enclosed footwear, suitable attire, a pen/pencil.
DELIVERY AND DURATION
Duration - Two (2) Days Time - 8.30am to 4.30pm Provide First Aid is conducted once a month at the Academy and can be delivered on your site upon request. Learners will receive training in both theory and practical activities. Morning/afternoon tea and lunch are provided when delivered at TTA. Please advise office of any dietary requirements
RPL/LEARNING PATHWAYS
RPL is not offered. This Unit Of Competency has been taken from the HLT Health Training Package. Further details can be found at www.cshisc.com.au. Learners who complete this UOC may be eligible for further study such as: HLT43015 Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance.
